Hats on for this journey into an old country past. Room service with a difference: the phone rings in the wardrobe or the wilds. Nobody and everyman home. A grab bag of styles help us to feel like a man adrift in woodland.
Matt Hulse
Matt Hulse graduated with a First Class in Fine Art from Reading University in 1991. He consolidated his skills with a PG Diploma in Electronic Imaging at the Duncan of Jordanstone College, Dundee. He graduated with a Commendation and the Lord Armistead Prize. He has been working as animator, sound designer, director, writer and a lecturer at various colleges and universities. His first animate! work was Hotel Central which shared with Jean Luc Godard the Special Award for Film at the Split Festival of New Cinema 2001. Early in 2001 he became the recipient of a Creative Scotland Award. Matt currently lives in Edinburgh.
animate!:
animate! tv is commissioning its 17th annual slate of personal projects for television, with running times of up to 6 minutes, and production budgets between £5,000 and £20,000. Individual works will be premiered on Channel 4 in autumn 2008, and will enjoy a long and highly visible international profile.
To be eligible for the competition, you must be an artist or animator with experience of experimental practice in film or digital media, and be based in the UK.
