On the surface, an exploration of environment and landscape. Hand-held photography close up on textures in a detailed examination of the real. From stone to sky, material to air, framing is all and holds the answers.
Gary Carpenter
Gary Carpenter is a comedy writer and creator of King Nutter - the website which monitors e-Bay items in the news. After graduating with a degree in animation from West Surrey College he worked in numerous roles in broadcasting from editing to radio presenting. The animated series Celebrity High (2001) for Channel 4 earned him finalist as Director of Best Comedy Series at the 2002 British Animation Awards. His most recent animated project was a video for Radiohead. Crash Test Danny (2006), a science sketch show for the Discovery Kids network sees Gary in his first on-screen television appearance as The Professor which he also co-wrote.
animate!:
animate! tv is commissioning its 17th annual slate of personal projects for television, with running times of up to 6 minutes, and production budgets between £5,000 and £20,000. Individual works will be premiered on Channel 4 in autumn 2008, and will enjoy a long and highly visible international profile.
To be eligible for the competition, you must be an artist or animator with experience of experimental practice in film or digital media, and be based in the UK.
